API 6D Ball Valve Material

2023-10-17

The material requirements for ball valves under API 6D vary based on the pressure class and temperature rating of the valve.

For example, for ball valves in pressure class 150 to 600, the body and bonnet material must be made of carbon steel, stainless steel, or other materials that are suitable for the service conditions. The ball and stem material should also be made of materials that are compatible with the service conditions, such as stainless steel or other corrosion-resistant alloys.

For ball valves in pressure class 900 and higher, the body and bonnet material must be made of forged steel or other suitable materials, while the ball and stem material must be made of materials that are compatible with the service conditions and pressure rating.

In general, the materials used for API 6D ball valves are selected based on their ability to withstand the high pressures, temperatures, and corrosive conditions found in oil and gas pipelines.
